Fundraising

Board Chairman David Goodwin and Executive Director Donna Brown accept a $4000 check from John Little of the Cross Timbers Bass Club.

Although we do receive some money from United Way of Wise County, Wise County, and the North Texas Council of Governments, most of our funds come from individual, group, and corporate donations. We depend on the generosity of our community to meet the needs of our homebound elderly clients.

Each year we participate in numerous fundraising activities, including the National “March for Meals” campaign. This is an annual campaign intended to generate public awareness, recruit new volunteers, and increase local fundraising.  We are already planning for the next “March for Meals” and plan to include a component called “Mayors for Meals” to the campaign. On this designated day American mayors across the country will show their support for the Meals on Wheels program in their city by delivering meals to seniors.  In March 2009, the Mayors for Meals campaign was a major success.  Over 1,550 U.S. and Canadian mayors delivered meals on Mayors for Meals Day.

In response to the 2010 "Mayors for Meals" campaign, Mayor JD Clark of Chico TX says, "Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of Mayors for Meals today.  I learned a lot about the program, and what amazed me most was the connection my delivery driver had with the residents.  We pulled up to a house, and she knew all the dogs' names, and all were excited to see her.  As I watched her visit with the resident,  I realized that, at least with this driver, it's about a lot more than just dropping off food."

Won't you join us and help end senior hunger by donating to our cause? You can donate online using the Paypal link at the top of this page or send a check to Wise Meals on Wheels, PO Box 903, Decatur TX 76234. Thank you for your generosity.
