About Us
Homebound Meal Service
Wise County Committee on Aging, Inc., Meals on Wheels provides meal services to elderly homebound clients in Wise County. Our Meal Service enables clients to enjoy a hot meal delivered to their place of residence.
The main meal consists of meat, potatoes or pasta, and a vegetable. We also provide bread, milk or juice, and dessert. We always provide our clients a copy of the Wise County Messenger Update as well.
Meals are delivered directly to the clients' homes from Monday through Friday between 10:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. We deliver frozen meals for our holiday meals and bad weather days.
A Registered Dietitian has reviewed the menus that rotate every five weeks. Up to 75% of our clients' daily nutritional needs can be addressed by our services. Our regular meal is low in sugar and fat, which is acceptable for most diet restrictions.
There is no cost for the meal, but we do ask for donations to help alleviate the costs of our program.
We have four routes that serve the surrounding areas of Decatur, Bridgeport, Boyd, and Cottondale. Our four routes provide 80 meals a day and cover over 312 miles.
